Maternity pictures

For my birthday, Carla gave me maternity and newborn pictures. She is such a great photographer so I was really excited about it. We took the maternity pictures yesterday and it was so much fun! We even got Tom to pose for about 10 minutes which was a great accomplishment as he hates having his picture taken.

Here is the one teaser picture she sent today. More to come - can't wait!

Memorial Day BBQ

Memorial Day today - yeah for a 3-day weekend! We went to a BBQ at Stephanie and Paul's. Nice weather, great food, great company. Good times! The highlight was definitely when Ian's chair broke down under him - such a laugh!

It was so good to see everybody and just hang out. Stephanie and Paul have such a beautiful Victorian house with a great garden.

Tom had quite a bit to drink so I drove home. Lucky him to have a designated driver with me :-)

Monte Carlo Night

We went to a fun event at City Hall - Monte Carlo Night. City Hall was decorated casino-style, with live bands playing, game tables and free drinks and food. It was a great time although all the free drink stuff wasn't that much fun for me. Tom enjoyed it a lot though - they even had Hefeweizen! We lost all of our (free) chips in Blackjack then headed home. Good times!

Great ultrasound today

I had another routine appointment today where we took another peek at the little pumpkin, just to be sure everything continues to be on track. She is already head down, measuring average size and moving a lot. Her heartbeat is nice and fast, and there is lots of fluid to cushion her during all those miles I take her on. Almost 28 weeks!!! So exciting...

OK, I guess I'll stay pregnant a little longer

I have been so impatient with pregnancy lately. Mostly related to my SI joint pains which caused me to slow down my running. Now my SI joint is almost good again, and I am getting so much better with being pregnant. I know our little girl will be here soon enough. I am also not letting the pregnancy stares/ comments from work get me down. Of course it helped that one colleague said to me today how she is amazed about how I don't look pregnant at all. :-)

He's known all along

Last weekend I found out that Tom has known all along that we are having a little girl - for the last two months! He was pretending not to know all this time. Turned out I mistakenly forwarded him an email that had that info on it. I actually still remember that I noticed after I forwarded the email but when he didn't say anything, I assumed he hadn't read the entire thread and didn't want to draw attention to it.
I asked him on Saturday if he knew now what the baby is. He first pretended not to hear me, but when I asked him a second time, he told me. Now all the little things make sense - he was pulling my leg all along! Like when he said that he'd thought about it and prefer to have a boy, or when he said he thought a boy would be better for us, as we are both better with boys, or when he said that if we are having a girl, we'll definitely have to have another child. Wow! Pretty funny in hindsight. I would have liked to see my face when I heard these...
Another great story to tell our little girl.
